When choosing the name "Rabalder" for the boat we did not consider the problems when sailing abroad - not anyone we met so far can pronounce it, and you always need to explain what it means.

Rabalder translates into bedlam or hullaballo in English. I did consider changing the boats name into Hullaballo, but then again too many letters for spelling out on the radio.

Rabalder is also the Swedish name of the 70'ies cartoon Roobarb (and Custard). The green dog Roobarb with it's lazy pink friend Custard the cat. The birds in the tree was always laughing at the different schemes Roobarb came up with. Apparently they have made 30 new animated short stories for the BBC. Sonn on a telly near you I guess ...

However; Roobarb is an apt English name for Rabalder. And more importantly, it's not changing the name (which can be bad luck); but merely translating it into English. The dinghy will be named Custard.
