Johan Strömbäck, born in 1961, has been sailing his own yachts since he built the 24 footer at the age of 15. Before that he was sailing a dinghy since the age of ten. Ever since, he has had his own yacht. For 10 years Johan was sailing his 33-ft Maxi 999 around the Baltic and the Scandinavian coasts. Johan and his wife Hélène have covered the complete Swedish coast, most of the Finnish and parts of the Estonian and major part of the Norwegian coasts (crossing the arctic circle sailing north to the Lofoten peninsular). The season 2006 Johan was skipper on a 47-feet charter yacht. He has also performed three delivery cruises from the Bay of Biscay (west coast of France) to Sweden, two as skipper, one as co-skipper. The season 2007 Johan worked as a skipper onboard different yachts, monohulls as well as multihulls. Johan has earlier been an active racing sailor. As such, he has great experience from offshore racing as well as delivery cruises. During the eighties and nineties, Johan has been sailing the round Gotland race (400 miles) several times and been crewmember in delivery cruises from England to Sweden (80 ft Maxi “Union Bank of Finland”) and from Sweden to Spain (Swan 651). Johan has been racing in the Nordic countries, a number of times in France and also in the US where he participated in the six-metre world cup. Johan is a reserve-officer in the Swedish navy where he got his major nautical & navigation education and training. The education covered not only navigation and seamanship but also international radio communication, fire emergency training etc. Johan is also well skilled in different practical matters since he have built his own boat and he also been working part time as a sail maker. Besides his great interest in sailing, Johan has made a classic general management carrier in the telecom industry as well as a management consultant
